With the whole of the UK in lockdown there has never been a better time to give our homes a clean. The novelty of being at home has probably worn of and boredom is starting to over.


By following this list not only are you killing time but you are also making your home a more clean and happy place.

We have compiled a list of 30 easy-to-do cleaning tasks around the house to kill time whilst in lockdown.




  •       Dust and Disinfect fridge and cabinets

With all the family stuck at home all day, there is going to be a fair few handprints in the kitchen so make sure you get the disinfectant out and scrub the surfaces.


  •   Wipe and re-arrange the herb draw

Wipe down the surface with a wet towel and organise the shelf/draw.



  • Empty and clean the cutlery drawer

You will be surprised how dirty this can get! Cutlery is used on a daily basis so this is an essential.


  •        Wash out the bins

It’s not the nicest job to do but someone’s got to do it, right?


  •        Clean all Cupboards

Make sure to clear out each cupboard and distinguish which food products have past their sell by date. Following this, disinfect the surfaces thoroughly ensuing it is squeaky clean, and then organise everything neatly back in.


  •        Clean out the fridge

You have more than likely built up a collection of different things in your room that you no longer need, why not take some time to get rid of all the things you no longer have a use for.


  • Polish and clean dressing tables

Take everything off the tables and get everything out the draws. Thoroughly disinfect and clean these tables as they can get really dirty really quickly.


  • Make your bed

Just because you’re in lockdown doesn’t mean you should stay in bed all day, get out and make the bed! This will help fighting the urge to jump back in for another episode.




  • Organise and clear out cabinets

I always find that this is the place that gets the dirtiest in the bathroom. Give it a spring clean by taking out all your old toothbrushes and disinfecting the cabinets inside and out.


  • Clean the windows

Bathroom windows need cleaning every couple of days, if you haven’t done it in a while now’s the time to do it. Don’t forget the window sill.


  • Wipe out the sink

Give the sink a quick rinse and use some disinfectant. Grout appears at the bottom of the sink bowl, taps and handles so make sure you give it a good clean.


  • Get rid of grout in tiles

Make the bathroom sparkly clean by putting some elbow grease to help get rid of all the grout on the tiles.


  • Clean water marks and splatters of the mirror

Love to look at yourself in the mirror whilst brushing your teeth? This will definitely need a good clean.

House plants collect a lot of dust; wipe them down with a wet cloth.

Don’t forget to move the sofa and other furniture when doing this.

You will be surprise how much dust and food crumbs that get kicked under the sofa and tables. Move the furniture and give it a vacuum.
